Product Details

A rational theology is a theology which (1) is based on fundamental principles that harmonize with the knowledge and reason of man, (2) derives all of its laws, ordinances and authority from the accepted fundamental principles, and (3) finds expression and use in the everyday life of man. In short, a rational theology is derived from the invariable laws of the universe, and exists for the good of man. A study of the religions of the world will reveal that even though most of its teachings will be sound, other aspects of its doctrines lack in completeness or are not supported by known facts and laws of the universe. The laws of nature are made up of principles which are sound, and harmonize in all things. Theology must meet the same criteria. It must meet the standards of God, and apply to all of humanity equally, and must be able to be understood by all, or it is not in harmony with existing knowledge, and can not stand the test of time and harmonize with knowledge yet unknown. Elder Widtsoe demonstrates in this book that the Gospel of Jesus Christ harmonizes with all knowledge, and is easy to be understood and obeyed by those who embrace it. Manmade religions can not make that claim. 190 pages
