“For many years the General Authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and probably the majority of its members, have felt a definite need for a Pearl of Great Price commentary. Heretofore comparatively little has been written about it and no definite effort has been made to explain each of the doctrines contained in it. For these reasons the First Council of the Seventy assigned the task to the author to prepare such a volume. Its first eight chapters are devoted to a discussion of the story of the origin of each of the four component parts of the Pearl of Great Price with a brief description of their contents. The remainder of the book is devoted to a discussion of the history and doctrine contained in that scripture.” (The Preface) 264 pages
