Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898)
Born in Connecticut, Woodruff joined the Church in 1833. He served in Zion's Camp, and after returning to Kirtland, Ohio, he was called on a mission to Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky in 1835. In 1837 he was called on a mission to Maine, but that was cut short by his call to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He was an avid journal writer, and was with the company which entered the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847. He served two missions to England, seeing considerable success. He was set apart as President of the Church in 1887.
